South End Mile Posts 4 to 5

01-15-2012 Southbound just North of Mile Post 5. We completed clearing the track to Bridge M-18-7 and are heading back to WI Hwy 35. We are the first ones to ride the South End of the line since it was closed in 1977 due to a derailment.

02-18-2012 We completed clearing the track to Bridge M-20-8 Mile Post 6. We are heading Northbound from Mile Post 4.24 at WI Hwy 35 to Bridge M-20-8 just north of Mile Post 6 Plumers Mill. We are the first ones to ride the South End of the line since it was closed in 1977 due to a derailment.

03-10-2012 We completed clearing the track to Mile Post 6.50 when we came upon are first major washout. We are heading Northbound from just south of Mile Post 6 at Plumers Mill to Mile Post 6.50. We are the first ones to ride the South End of the line since it was closed in 1977 due to a derailment.

11-03-2012 Southbound work train finishing up for the day after installing Cross Bucks at the DNR Crossing south of Mile Post 5. Dropped the tool car off at Bridge M-16-9 heading towards WI Hwy-35 to be loaded on a trailer.

Derailment Site

05-06-2022 Southbound at Bridge M-66 Little Beef Slough the sight of the derailment that closed the Line Permanently from Mile Post 4 -18 on January 18th 1977. A Box Car and other artifacts from the wreck remain at the site today.
